Troubleshooting & Operational Issues

Logging on problems - Once the system is installed and you have registered your serial number with 5D, there are two messages which can commonly occur in trying to access the system.
'Please re-enter your user name' - This is usually only seen with a new installation. It is telling you there is a difference between what the user is entering as a username and what we at 5D have entered on our servers database. This is usually a simple typing error either at the user end or the server end. Please phone or email us for assistence.
'Unable to log on to server, please check your internet connection' - Assuming you have access to other internet pages there are sevral factors which can generate this message:

It may be that the server has a temporary problem preventing any user from gaining access.
If you are connecting through a proxy server, it may be the internet settings in the log in screen need configuring.
It may be that your system is connecting to the internet through a firewall in which case your network administrator will need to configure it for access to our server.

Scaling Problems - From time to time, when the user switches from one chart to another, the live bar from the previous chart that was open can display on the new chart that has been opened. This can cause the chart to appear as a 'flat line' due to the range of the prices now showing.
The first thing to do is click on the same chart button as was used to select the current chart. This will clear the screen. Select the required chart once more and this time the chart should appear as normal.
Should the same problem appear at that point, it is likely that a bar will have been 'written' to the database.
If that is the case click the reset chart. This will cause the screen to go blank while a fresh data file for that chart is downloaded.

Trendlines - When a trendline has been placed on a chart, the 'modify' option is not activated until a different chart has been selected first.

Left/Right arrows freeze - The left and right arrows on the keyboard allow the user to scroll backwards and forwards through the charts one bar at a time. These sometimes appear to not work.
If that is the case, this can be overcome by holding the Alt key down as you use the left and right keys.

It is possible to scroll backwards and forwards a complete screen at a time by using the HOME and END keys on the keyboard.

Audible Alerts - The system generates an audible alert 1) when a triangle appears, 2) when the FSO level is reached, and 3) when the connection with the server has been lost.
